Panthers have highest MBC finish on home course
Ellsworth High School's girls' golf team had its highest Middle Border Conference meet finish and tied for its lowest nine-hole score of the season last Tuesday at the Ellsworth Country Club.
The Panthers finished tied for second shooting a 201 along with Baldwin-Woodville. New Richmond easily took first with the low score of 170 and all-but-sealed the conference title as Osceola, playing without Casey Danielson, finished fourth with a score of 204.
Amery shot a 210, Somerset 213 and Prescott finished with a 243.
Ellsworth's home meet was scheduled back on Sept. 7 but was suspended due to inclement weather. Rather than resuming, the teams agreed to start again on a beautiful fall afternoon.
Ellsworth had three golfers finish in the top 10 and score individual league points. EHS was led by Shannon Campbell, who came in fourth with a 45; Courtney Stoesz was eighth shooting a 49 and Aubrey Langer finished 10th with a score of 53.
Chloe Spriggle shot a 54 for the Panthers and Shauntay Gallardojohnson finished with a 58.
With Danielson absent, New Richmond's Caitlynn Singerhouse took medalist honors shooting a 37. Her teammate Hannah Wheeler along with Amery's Dani Edin tied for second with a pair of 43s, Alex Wheeler took fourth with a 44.
Mikayla Rowan had Prescott's lowest score with a 58 followed by Katie Filkins 59, Heidi Tayson and Audrie Ann Schlecht both with scores of 63s and Jessica DeYoung 77.
