Panthers in seventh after first day of state meet

MADISON - The Ellsworth High School boys' golf team is in seventh place after the first day's competition at the WIAA State Golf Meet at University Ridge golf course Monday.

The Panthers are a combined plus 65 over par, 49 strokes in back of first place Madison Edgewood who leads the eight-team Division 2 field at plus-13. Edgewood shot a 301 followed by Waukesha Catholic Memorial 305, Sheboygan Falls 316, River Valley 319, Marinette 324, Osceola 326, Ellsworth 350 and Manitowoc Roncalli 363. 

Par at University Ridge is 72. Winnebago Lutheran's Chris Colla leads the individual D-2 standings after shooting a 68.

EHS's individual scores were Bryce Stein 82, Mike Tingelhoff 89, Chrystian Kulow 89, Emery Whalen 90 and Kyle Kurrelmeyer 90.  

Ellsworth will take part in the second round tomorrow. The Panthers will be teeing off at 7:27 a.m.
