Panthers win two at Prescott Invitational, showdown with Somerset Tuesday

PRESCOTT - Ellsworth High School's baseball team not only were winners of both their games at Saturday's Prescott Invitational, but were big winners against both Eau Claire Regis and Grantsburg.

EHS defeated Grantsburg 12-4 and topped Regis in five innings 15-5.

Tim Green and Tanner Eggenberger were chosen for the all-invite squad. Green had two hits vs. Grantsburg and pitched in relief vs. Regis while Eggenberger crushed a two-run homer vs. the Ramblers and had two hits vs. Grantsburg, a double and triple.

Eggenberger was also the winning pitcher vs. Regis while Tyler Regnier won his first start of the season against the Pirates.

Big hitters for the Panthers against Grantsburg were Caleb Dressen, 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs and Darren Georgakas with two hits. Regnier and Brady Schroeder both had two hits vs. Regis, each with a double.

The wins put Ellsworth at 5-1 overall. They will battle for first place with undefeated Somerset Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Brown Baseball Facility in Hager City.
