PC School Board sets mill rate
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

PLUM CITY--The Plum City School Board set the mill rate and total levy for the current school year last month.

The total levy was $1,440.821, with a mill rate of 11.31, an increase of .14 from last year. Superintendent Mark Luebker said the increase is due to a decrease in property valuations. He added the levy was $47,000 less than what was possible, in part so the district could have some negotiating power in regard to teacher settlements.

In other action, the board:

--Heard from Luebker, who thanked the district's SOS group for their donation of woodchips to the elementary school's playground and to the accelerated reading groups as well.

--Heard from High School Principal Paul Churchill, who said homecoming week was a success. He also said 22 juniors signed up and took the PSAT test, a preparation for the ACT test. In addition, 19 more juniors took ACT preparation through the district's interactive television course. Churchill also informed the board WKCE testing at both the elementary and high school will be this week and next week.

--Set meeting dates and times for the next two months. The Monday, Nov. 15, meeting will be at 7 p.m., while the Monday, Dec. 20, meeting will start at 6 p.m. due to the middle school concert.
