Pedersen gives Alford plea to fatal Hager City crash
Janice M. Pedersen entered an Alford plea - meaning she didn't admit guilty, but agreed that prosecutors had enough evidence to convict her.
Pedersen had been charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Pedersen received the home monitoring sentence due to her medical condition.
Pedersen was driving Donald Opdahl's car October 9, 2010. The accident happened on Wisconsin Highway 35 near Hager City. Opdahl died at the scene as the result of a fractured spine. A blood test taken three hours after the crash showed the 64-year old Apple Valley woman had a blood alcohol content of .13, well over the legal limit.
