PFLAG meeting features parent authors
The June 21st meeting of River Falls PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians, Gays) will feature a presentation by Paul and Hjordy Wagner of Eau Claire.
The parents of two gay sons, the Wagners will share their journey to acceptance of their sons' sexual identity with the hope that other families will be better equipped to approach the news of a gay child or loved one in a healthy, positive way.
While the Wagners quickly embraced their sons' sexuality, they soon realized that for other families, the transition was not as smooth.
Many young gay people today muster the courage to come out to family and are made to feel ostracized and abandoned by loved ones as a result.
In addition to speaking, Paul and Hjordy Wagner have written a book, " Ready or Not...They're Gay: Stories from a Midwestern Family."
River Falls PFLAG provides support, education, and advocacy to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends. Meetings provide a safe meeting place in a confidential, supportive atmosphere. New attendees from the surrounding area are welcome.
The June 21st meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union Street. For further information on the meeting or on River Falls PFLAG, contact by email firstname.lastname@example.org
