Pierce County girls' teams hope for first win Tuesday night
There's no tying in basketball, so either the Plum City or Spring Valley high school girls' basketball teams will get their first win of the season Tuesday evening.
The game will be at Plum City with the tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
The Cardinals are 0-13 so far this season, coming off a 53-32 loss to Elmwood last Thursday while the Blue Devils fell to 0-10 after losing 51-39 at Gilmanton Monday.
PC had rallied to cut the Panthers' lead to 43-37 with two minutes remaining. But Gilmanton, 4-6 overall, outscored Plum City 8-2 the rest of the way.
Heather Von Holtum led PC in scoring with 15 points. She also pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double. Teammate Marah Boyer had seven points and eight rebounds.
Spring Valley will no doubt press a Blue Devil squad which has problems with turnovers. How the Blue Devils get the ball to their leading scorers, Von Holtum and Boyer, will be the key to the deciding who makes the win column first.
