Pierce County post matches Stout grad's environmental bent

The ideal career for Nina Borchowiec would be employment with a non-profit group doing restoration work, she said Friday.

Borchowiec's duties in the Americorps Vista position with Pierce and Dunn counties' UW-Extension offices should prepare her for just such a future. They combine elements of health and agriculture plus an environmental aspect complementing her recent college studies.

"Americorps is the program and Vista is a branch of it...that stands for Volunteers In Service To America," said the Burnsville, Minn., native who started in the year-long role last week.
