Ellsworth won its 10th straight regular season contest with a 35-13 win at Spooner. After leading just 14-7 at halftime, the Panthers dominated the second half. Quarterback Emery Whalen threw a touchdown pass to Evan Klawitter and scored a TD himself on a quarterback sneak. Running back Jordan Close finished the scoring for EHS with a 44-yard TD run from scrimmage. Whalen also threw a TD pass to Nick Taranto in the first half.

Spring Valley's win over the Eagles at Syverson Park was much further than the final score indicated. The Cardinals scored 28 points in the first quarter alone and led 34-15 at halftime.

SV quarterback Remington Schneider rushed for 50 yards and threw for 67, including a 60-yard touchdown pass to Logan Newton. Valley had a very balanced ground game with nine players getting at least three carries or more. Fullback Matt Fesenmaier rushed for 45 yards and scored three touchdowns. Fesenmaier also led the team in tackles with 12 while Jed Schlegel had an interception he returned for a TD.

Elmwood/Plum City's Ryan Asher scored on a 28-yard run early to seal the win for the Wolves over Frederic. EPC had good balance on offense with 186 rushing and 124 passing.

EPC won its season opener for the second season in a row over Frederic and will face Spring Valley in a clash of unbeaten teams Friday in Spring Valley. Ellsworth will be at Colfax taking on a squad which also won its first game 42-0 over Eleva-Strum.
