PIERCE COUNTY PREP SCOREBOARD: Prescott softball team advances to finals

The Prescott High School girls softball team marched to the finals of their WIAA Division 3 regional tournament with a big 13-0 win over Bloomer in five inning at Biggs Field in Prescott Tuesday.

The Cardinals will take on the winner of the Eau Claire Regis-Elk Mound contest which was rained out yesterday and will be made-up today. PHS will host the finals Thursday starting at 5 p.m.

Marti Johnson was the winning pitcher. She also had a hit and scored twice. Mariah Krings was PHS's leader at the plate with three hits and three runs scored. She also hit a home run and a double. Cardinal teammate Abby Murphy and Katy Syverson both had two hits.

In another regional semifinal contest, Ellsworth could not match up with No. 1 ranked Baldwin-Woodville and fell in a Division 2 contest 17-0 in five innings at Baldwin-Woodville.

Elmwood/Plum City's Division 4 regional semifinal at Boyceville was rained out and will be made up today at Pafko Park in Boyceville starting at 4:30 p.m. The winner will face either Glenwood City or Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran in Thursday's finals.

In other prep sporting events:

Plum City's baseball team was shutout at Durand 14-0 in five innings.

The Spring Valley at Elmwood baseball game was rained out.

Ellsworth tennis player Will Huppert won his WIAA Division 2 Baldwin-Woodville Subsectional match Tuesday 6-2, 6-2 over Amery's Marko Uzeriovic at No. 1 singles. Huppert will play in today's sectional meet at Black River Falls. If he wins his first match he will qualify for the state individual meet next weekend in Madison.
