The Spring Valley High School baseball team held on for a 7-6 at Colfax Friday in Dunn-St. Croix Confrence play.

The Cardinals led 7-1 before a five-run sixth inning brought the Vikings back within one. But SV held them scoreless in their last at bat.

Zach Newton was the winning pitcher. Top hitters for SV, 3-0 overall and in the D-SC Small, were Remington Schneider, Sean Borgerding and Jake Helmer with two each while Jed Schlegel and Hank Larson both hit doubles for the Cards.

Prescott remainded undefeated as well. The Cardinals, 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the Middle Border Conference, scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 6-6 tie and defeat Somerset at Firehall Field Friday.

Mike Brookshaw, Justin Lynner, Matt Holman and Mason Syverson each had two hits for PHS. Lynner drove in three runs. 

Prescott hosts its own tournament today at Firehall Field.

Prescott kept pace with Ellsworth who won at Amery 5-2 Friday. The Panthers are 5-0 in the MBC, 8-0 overall.

In prep softball, Elmwood/Plum City downed St. Croix Central 9-3 in Elmwood. Shelby Hall tossed a five-hitter with five strikeouts to get the win. She also hit a three-run homer. Heidi Webb had two hits and drove in three runs for EPC, 3-2 overall and in the D-SC, and Liz Fredrickson had two hits and two RBIs.

In prep golf, Ellsworth finished fourth in the 18-team Bloomer Invitational Friday with an 18-hole score of 343.
