By Bill Kirk
Amounts of recyclable materials processed and marketed last year by Pierce County's recycling center continued on a downward trend, according to the annual report from the solid waste department.
Approximately 2,392 tons of recyclable material was processed in 2012, compared to 2,562 tons the previous year. A total of 2,267 tons was marketed and shipped in '12, in comparison to the 2,655 tons of the year before.
The number of tons of material marketed and shipped each year can vary depending on the number of tons carried over from year to year, the report explains.
