Place, Larson both All-Americans in track and field
Ellsworth's Morgan Place and Sean Larson earned All-American status for their top eight finishes at NCAA national meets that were held last weekend.
As of presstime Friday, Place finished seventh in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 37:17.69 for the University of Minnesota-Duluth at the NCAA Division II meet in Charlotte. She was just 31 seconds behind Queen's University's Tanya Zeferjahn who finished first.
Larson uncorked his best hammer throw of the meet on his very last throw, a 194 foot, six inch effort for the University of Wisconsin-Stout at the NCAA Division III meet in Cleveland. The winning throw was an NCAA record 217-8 by Cal Lutheran's Eric Flores. Larson also competed in the discus.
