Plum City man gets jail for endangering safety

A Plum City man was sentenced to 30 days jail Wednesday after pleading guilty in Pierce County Circuit Court to felony recklessly endangering safety.

Mike Lifto, 36, was placed on two years' probation with the jail term as a condition. He was granted work release privileges. Lifto also pled guilty to misdemeanor criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct, stemming from the same incident last July in the Village of Plum City.

Pierce County Circuit Court Judge Robert Wing said during the sentencing jail time was warranted because, if it wasn't, that meant he was condoning vigilante justice.

"I understand he has a responsible job and taken part in his community, but this is not his first law contact," Wing said. "He took the law into his own hands."
