PREP SCOREBOARD: Spring Valley softball, Elmwood baseball team both get first wins


The Spring Valley High School softball team and Elmwood High School baseball team both notched their first wins of the season Tuesday afternoon.


SV clobbered Glenwood City 23-1 in Spring Valley while Elmwood topped Alma/Pepin 11-6 in Pepin.

Elmwood/Plum City's softball team suffered another heartbreaking loss to Alma/Pepin as the Eagles scored three runs in the top of the seventh trailing 6-4 to win 7-6 in Elmwood.

Also on Tuesday, the Elmwood/Plum City girls track team finished second in the 11-team Eleva-Strum Invitational. EPC was led by relay wins in the 1600 and 3200 and first places by Sarah Gilles in hurdle races and Jillian Holt in the pole vault as she cleared eight feet. The EPC boys finished eighth.

Spring Valley's golf team placed fourth in Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet in Mondovi. SV shot a 205.

Baldwin-Woodville def. Prescott in softball 8-0.

New Richmond defeated Ellsworth in softball 6-2.

New Richmond defeated Ellsworth in boys' tennis 7-0
