PRESCOTT - The Prescott High School football team rushed for over 300 yards and scored 41 points in the first half alone on its way to a 47-0 walloping of Barron in the Cardinals' season-opener Friday at Laney Field.

Prescott led 14-0 after the first quarter and scorted 27 points in the second.

Several of the Cardinals' players were marking their varsity game debuts, especially in the backfield and at skill postions. But running behind a massive line, they played like season veterans going right through Barron's defense.

New PHS quarterback Payton Bartsch scored on touchdown runs of two, one and 28 yards during the ballgame. Justin Lynner had TD runs of 13 and five yards, Max Rawson scored on an 11-yard run and Tristen Eicher scored on 57-yard run from an inside reverse and had several long punt returns to set-up PHS's offense.

Prescott will be at St. Croix Falls next Friday. The Saints were shutout by Osceola 36-0.
