Prescott couple involved in two-car accident New Year's Day

A Prescott couple was involved in a two-car accident Wednesday afternoon on State Highway 35 in the town of Oak Grove. 

Daniel Magnum, 21, Red Wing, was northbound on Hwy. 35 when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed into the southbound lane of traffic where he hit the vehicle driven by Anita Otteson, 42, Prescott, explained Sgt. Chad Koranda of the Pierce County Sheriff's Department in a news release. 

The accident happened south of 1240th St. Koranda said based on witness statements and information, Magnum's vehicle appeared to be out of control when it crossed into oncoming traffic, however, the why is still unknown.

Eric Otteson, 40, Prescott, was a passenger in the Otteson vehicle. Both Ottesons were released from the scene. Magnum was taken by Prescott Ambulance to Regina Medical Center in Hastings.

The accident remains under investigation. Prescott Fire assisted the Sheriff's Department on scene.
