Prescott Dance team wins conference, advances to Regions

HUDSON – The Prescott High School Dance team finished in first place in the Middle Border Conference at the Western Wisconsin Dance Championships held on January 4 in Hudson.

Top finishers at the Hudson event included solos by Brooklyn Kemmerer and Claudia Munsen, as they placed first and second respectively, earning first-team all-conference. A trio performance by Brianna Shirley, Alexi Schommer and Ashley Payne, receiving second team all-conference status and a duet by Kaitlyn Bretoi and Kallie Paulson, which earned them second team all-conference honors.

As a result, the Dance team will next compete in the Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches (WACPC) Regional High School Dance Championships Saturday, January 25 at New Richmond High School. General admission is $5 per person, under five are free. Pom Competition starts at 9 a.m., with awards beginning at 12:15 p.m. Dance then begins at 1:30 p.m., with awards around 5 p.m.

Prior to the Regionals, the Dance team will perform three times during home girls basketball games: January 17 against New Richmond, January 21 against Amery and January 24 versus Baldwin-Woodville. All performances will be performed during halftime of the junior varsity game.

The Dance team would also like to remind the public of the WACPC State Dance Championships at the La Crosse Center on Saturday, February 1. General admission is $10 per person and under five are free. Competition starts at 9 a.m. with a Division 2 All-State Finalist performance at North Hall.

The Dance team’s annual recital is 2 p.m., Sunday, February 16 at the Prescott High School gymnasium. Admission is $3 per person and under five are free. Greg Kosin will also be speaking about Jaci Kosin’s recent induction into the WACPC Hall of Fame.
