Prescott Daze full of family fun this weekend

PRESCOTT--Prescott Daze in Prescott will be held this Friday-Sunday.

First, this Thursday at 6 p.m., there will be a middle school dance until 8 p.m. for grades sixth-eighth in the middle school cafeteria. Games and prizes are planned. The event is sponsored by the Prescott Lions Club. Concessions will be sold.

Activities this Friday include 3:30 p.m., punt, pass and kick with 3:30 p.m. registration and 4 p.m. contest at the high school football field for ages eight to 13, boys and girls, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

At 4 p.m., there will be Prescott Fire and Rescue activities at the fire hall (Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday, too). From 4 p.m.-midnight, a beer garden will operate and, from 4-8 p.m., Joe's BBQ Chicken will be available at the corner of Flora and Walnut streets.

At 6 p.m., Churchill Market will host a pie eating contest featuring three age groups, eight and under, 9-16, and 17 and up. Pre-register at Churchill, as space is limited. Free hot dogs and drinks at Churchill from 4-6 p.m. Trophies and prizes throughout the event, which is free.

The gates will open for the Prescott Daze Street Dance at 7 p.m. and the dance will be held from 8 p.m.-midnight at Mercord Mill Park on Front Street along the riverfront. Music will be by "Midlife Chryslers." Admission is free with Prescott Daze Button. No one under 21 will be allowed. Concessions will be sold.

All weekend, a free shuttle bus will run from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on the half-hour from the high school, fire hall, middle school (Orange and Court streets) and downtown (Orange and Broad streets).
