Prescott, Ellsworth baseball teams remain unbeaten, EHS wins first softball game
In case you are wondering, Ellsworth and Prescott high schools do not play each other in baseball until May 2 in Ellsworth.
It is possible both teams could be undefeated by then but there's a long way to go.
Still, both Pierce County Middle Border Conference teams kept their records spotless with league wins Tuesday evening.
Ellsworth shutout Durand 2-0 at Brown Field in Hager City. Dan Giese had two of Ellsworth's seven hits and Mike Koch drove in a run. Spencer Schroeder struck out nine in five innings to get the win and Logan Armstrong came on in relief to get the save.
Prescott edged Amery 7-5 at home.
Meanwhile in softball, Ellsworth won its first game under new coach Hayley Breister 11-1 at home against Somerset, also at Brown Field in Hager City.
Prescott's softball team took its first loss Tuesday, 8-6 against New Richmond. The Cardinals took a 6-4 lead against the Tigers in the top of the fourth but NR tied the score with a pair of runs in the same inning and then broke the tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Thursday's schedule has Prescott's baseball team with a key game at home vs. New Richmond while the softball team is also at home vs. Osceola. Ellsworth's softball team will be at Baldwin-Woodville and the baseball team is at Somerset.
