Prescott, Ellsworth H.S. homecomings this week
Two Pierce County high schools, Ellsworth and Prescott, will hold Homecoming this week with the culmination being the football games, each set for Friday night.
Ellsworth will be looking for its first win of the year when the team takes on Amery (2-2 overall). Meanwhile Prescott (3-1) will host Somerset (1-3). Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
Ellsworth held its coronation Monday morning with Josh Miska and Brittney Boe taking honors. Starting on Wednesday, the theme is color day as seniors dress up in black, juniors in cheetah print, sophomores in zubaz and freshmen in argyle. That day will be football day for boys, while clues for the medallion hunt, guess the word and mystery person will be sprinkled over the next three days.
Thursday's main activities include the chain link sales and the punt, pass and kick competition on the football field.
Friday's theme is purple and white. During the day, class presidents will be locked in a room from 7:40-11 a.m. They will collect pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters from their classmates to get out. The money will then go to the class treasury.
A pep fest is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. in the new gymnasium. Events include three-legged race, chain link competition and hallway winner.
After school, the homecoming parade starts at 5 p.m., leaving from the west end of the high school. Thirty minutes later is the chili feed and competition at the cafetorium.
At 6:30 p.m., Boe and the rest of her court will do the coin toss for the game. At halftime, the Pep Band and Danceline perform, with the Homecoming Court being introduced and the chili winner announced.
The activities conclude 30 minutes after the game as the band "We Breathe Fire" -- featuring Cordero Roman, Alex Andrews, Tyler Anderson, Brock Blue, Aric Brenner and Lewis Eichman -- will be performing in the cafeteria. Cost is $2 to get into the show.
Wednesday's theme at Prescott is color day as the seniors will dress in blaze orange, the juniors in blue, the sophomores in green, the freshmen in pink and the teachers in green and gold.
Thursday's theme is That 70's Day. The volleyball team hosts Somerset 7 p.m. with the queen being crowned between the junior varsity and varsity game. A bonfire will be held after the volleyball game.
Friday is Spirit Day with a pep fest scheduled from 8:15-9:45 a.m. in the gymnasium. A parade is scheduled from 10:15-11:15 a.m.
Before the game, the senior parents will sponsor a tailgate party at 5 p.m. During halftime, the king will be crowned and afterwards, a dance will be held until 1 a.m.
