Prescott girls track wins St. Croix Central meet

HAMMOND - Prescott High School's girls team won first place in a meet at St. Croix Central Thursday. 

PHS edged Baldwin-Woodville 75.5 to 69.5 for first place. Spring Valley's girls team finished fifth in the nine-team meet. It was their first meet of the season.

No field events took place. PHS won due to their depth in the distance races. They also got first places from Amanda Murphy in the mile run in 6:00.55 and from Jennifer Kleinschmidt in the 300-meter low hurdles in :53.37. Kleinschmidt finished second in the 100-meter high hurdles and Murphy was third in the 800.

Spring Valley's Sam O'Brien won the 100-meter dash in :13 seconds while teammates Emma Gaustad and Claire Arneson placed 1-2 respectively in the 3200-meter run.
