Prescott police sponsor holiday drive

PRESCOTT - The Prescott Police Department will again sponsor a toy and warm clothing collection drive this holiday season. It's the fifth consecutive year city police officers will collect toys and warm clothing for distribution to needy children and families in the city, Chief of Police Mike R. Bondarenko announced.

Toys and warm clothing can be dropped off during business hours at the police department at 1601 Pine St. The lobby hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The drive will end at 5 p.m. on Dec. 16.

"We welcome donations of unwrapped toys for children of all ages, as well as winter coats, hats and gloves," Bondarenko said.

Bondarenko said the year-long economic downturn has severely impacted many local families.

"We hope to make this a brighter, happier Christmas for many children in Prescott," he said. "We hope everyone will generously support this project, and contribute toys and warm clothing."
