Prescott solidifies best finish in MBC at conference meet
OSCEOLA - Prescott High School's girls' golf team put the finishing touches on its best-ever finish in the Middle Border Conference in program history by placing fourth in the main conference meet held Thursday at Krooked Kreek Golf Course.
The Cardinals shot a 432, their best 18- hole score of the season. PHS junior Megan Westerberg secured her spot on the All-Middle Border Conference team by shooting a 100 along with teammate, junior Lauren Hintz. Prescott junior McKenzie Willner made the honorable mention list by finishing in the top 15 in the final individual standings. She finished with a score of 120. Autmmn Schlecht, also a junior, shot a 114 and Stephanie Fleming shot a 126.
Despite beginning the season with little golfing experience, Ellsworth stayed out of last place, shooting a 486 for the meet to finish in seventh in the meet and overall in the team standings withg 42 points.
New Richmond won the conference title for fourth straight season in a row and for the sixth time in school history. The Tigers shot a 349 for the meet to finish first. NR won the team title with 100 points because they had three golfers finish 1-2-3 in the individual standings and make first team all-conference: junior Hannah Baker 76 points, senior Megan Chelberg, 83 points and senior Alex Wheeler, 96 points for the individual championship. This was nailed down with an 18-hole score at the conference meet.
