Prescott woman dies Tuesday morning; husband arrested
A 59-year-old Prescott woman died Tuesday morning which led to the arrest of her 60-year-old husband.
The Prescott Police Department reports around 4:10 a.m., police and emergency medical services were dispatched to a residence on RIver Terrace Street for a report of the woman being unresponsive. Efforts to revive the woman were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead by the Pierce County Medical Examiner.
According to Chief of Police Mike R. Bondarenko, the circumstances of the death were suspicious and may be drug-related. Therefore, police questioned the husband, arrested and transported him to the Pierce County Jail. Bondarenko said charges are pending with the Pierce County District Attorney's Office.
The deceased body was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Police are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The victim's name will be released on Wednesay because out of state relatives have not yet been notified.
Pierce County sheriff's deputies assisted Prescott police on scene.
Bondarenko concluded by saying the death remains under investigation.
