Public meetings about Ellsworth school referendum set

Three public meetings about the Feb. 18, 2014, referendum were approved by the Ellsworth School Board Monday.

The meetings will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Prairie View Elementary School, on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Hillcrest Elementary School and on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Ellsworth High School. The starting time for all three meetings is 6:30 p.m.


The structure for the two meetings to be at the elementary schools, on Jan. 15 and 20, shows:

--An estimated 35-40-minute informational PowerPoint presentation by Superintendent Barry Cain and members of the schools’ Ad Hoc Facility Committee.

--Various stations to be available for the public to circulate through to ask specific questions and gather additional information. These are to include the construction manager/architect on building plans and the like, the school board with general information, the superintendent with general information, the Ad Hoc Facility Committee on recommendations, options studied and the process, the transportation director on student transportation and transportation budget, and the possibility of elementary staff on the elementary school environment and practices.

--Public questions will be gathered at the stations and through forms to use for later meeting and other informational avenues.

--Elementary facilities will also be available for public tours and inspection.

The structure for the meeting at the high school, on Jan. 29, shows:

--Individual stations to be available for small group questions and information gathering.

--An estimated 30-minute informational PowerPoint presentation by Cain and members of the Ad Hoc Facility Committee.

--Question themes gathered from the first two meetings and other meetings to be addressed by Cain and other representatives.

--Open public time for follow-up questions in large group.
