Races develop for county offices

Two Pierce County incumbents will have opposition on the ballot this fall.

Jamie R. Feuerhelm, Spring Valley, who has been county clerk since 1997, is being challenged by Heather L. Snook, Ellsworth. Feuerhelm is a Democrat and Snook identifies herself as an independent.

Register of Deeds Vicki J. Nelson, Ellsworth, who was elected in 2004, is challenged by Paul B. Webb, Beldenville. Nelson is a Republican and Webb is a Democrat.

Treasurer Phyllis J. Beastrom, a Democrat from Ellsworth who was named county treasurer last November after Paula Knutson resigned, will have no opposition on the ballot. Beastrom worked in the treasurer's office for 18 years before becoming treasurer.

District Attorney John O'Boyle, River Falls, who has held his office since 1993, is also unopposed.

Tuesday was the filing deadline for the four county offices up for election in November. The terms for all four are now four years.
