Racine Mayor Gary Becker will have Feb. 1 trial on charges from an Internet sex sting
Former Racine Mayor Gary Becker is scheduled to go on trial Feb. 1, on charges connected with an Internet sex sting.
Circuit Judge Stephen Simanek set the trial date Tuesday.
And he told Becker to pay more than $900 for the GPS monitoring unit he has to wear while he's free on bond. The 52-year-old Becker was arrested in January.
He allegedly arranged to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex, but the girl turned out to be a state Justice agent. Becker resigned as mayor five days after he was charged with numerous felonies.
Prosecutors said Becker also improperly had a city employee fix his personal computer - and the worker found child pornography.
