Record 12 wrestlers head to state for Ellsworth


AMERY - The Ellsworth HIgh School wrestling team will send a school record 12 athletes to the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament from the Division 2 Amery Sectional Saturday.


The Panthers had four sectional champions. Jens Lantz won his fourth straight sectional title at 126 pounds; Tristen Mueller finished first at 138; Gabe Frandsen won his second straight sectional title at 160 as did Logan Kemmerer at 170.

Also qualifying for state for EHS at Andrew Swanson, second at 106, Anders Lantz, third at 120; Brad Cain, third at 132; Jacob Fuchs, third at 145; Josh Hines, second at 152; Dennis Schutz, second at 182; Brock Steldt, second at 195 and Brodey Kemmerer, third at heavyweight.

Cain will be making his second straight appearance at the state individual meet  while Frandsen and Logan Kemmerer will be participating in their third straight state tournaments.
