RED-OUT to be held at Friday's EHS game
This Friday, the Ellsworth Panthers will host the Amery Warriors in a basketball doubleheader.
The girls' varsity game begins at 6:30 p.m. and the boys tip it off at 8:15 p.m. Both girls and boys JV and C-Teams will also be playing throughout the course of the evening.
As a part of this big evening of basketball, Ellsworth High School will sponsor a RED-OUT. The purpose of the RED-OUT is to further awareness of cardiovascular disease. During the game, fans from both teams are being asked to wear red as a means of honoring loved ones who suffer from the disease while helping to fight heart disease and stroke.
Teams, students and community members are being encouraged to purchase and wear "Rock the Beat" shirts to the game. The shirts can be purchased at the Ellsworth High School Panther Den for $10. All proceeds will go directly to the American Heart Association.
In addition, current high school students who purchase a shirt and wear it to the game will be admitted free of charge and will qualify to participate in contests to take place during half time of both games.
Cardiovascular disease kills more people in the U.S. than the next five leading causes of death combined--including cancer. The RED-OUT is a great way to celebrate life of family and friends lost to this devastating disease while making a difference by helping to save others.
If unable to come to the game, but would like to show support, stop at the Panther Den to purchase a shirt or call the high school office at (715) 273-3904 and make a donation. All proceeds go to the American Heart Association.
