Register for vegetable class by Monday
Nothing is fresher and healthier than produce grown in your own back yard.
Packed with vitamins and plenty of self-satisfaction, home grown produce is becoming more and more popular.
Whether you're a beginning gardener looking to get started or an experienced gardener looking for ideas on how to make your gardening easier, attend this vegetable growing class offered by Diana Alfuth, horticulture educator with UW-Extension. The class, scheduled for Wednesday, March 30, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the River Falls Public Library, will cover the basics of vegetable gardening.
Getting the soil ready, tips on which vegetables to grow, fertilizer requirements and general cultural methods will be covered. Also addressed will be ideas on reducing weeding, water conservation, and preventing and controlling insect pests and diseases organically.
The class is free, but pre-registration is required, as class size is limited. To register, call the Pierce County UW-Extension office at (715) 273-6781 by next Monday.
