Retiring Ellsworth teacher changed careers, focused on children

Email

Deb Foy didn't set out to be a teacher, but once she entered the classroom, the skills she learned first proved valuable.

As a youth, Foy knew she wanted to go to college, she said. However, she began her university education at UW-Stout in Menomonie, headed for vocational rehabilitation. She had planned to become an interpreter--at least until she got into it.

"Í realized it wasn't for me," said the recent retiree from 28 years of teaching in the Ellsworth School District.
