RIVER FALLS--Many patients of the River Falls Area Hospital (RFAH) and River Falls Medical Clinic are starting to manage their health care information online--anywhere, anytime.

MyChart is a secure, online health management tool connecting Allina Health--RFAH’s patients to their personalized health information regarding their hospital stay, and clinic information if they doctor at an Allina medical clinic. The IQ Health portal is the secure, online health management tool for patients of the River Falls Medical Clinic to access clinical records online.

The hospital and clinic are encouraging their current and past patients to take advantage of these free tools to improve their health. Both online health management tools are completely secure, making sure health information stays a private matter between patients and providers. And the information is available 24/7.

Understanding and remembering all the information needed to be known after being discharged from a hospital after surgery, delivery or illness can be confusing, and can impact whether or not someone has to return to the hospital for additional care. MyChart provides that needed online access once a patient gets home to view the reason for a hospital visit, diet, activity, wound- and self-care instructions, equipment needed, signs and symptoms indicating a worsening in condition and whom to call, and more.

For Allina Health hospital patients, MyChart allows:

--a review of records of medications, immunizations and allergies, and selected lab test results;

--a review of after-visit summaries from the hospital care team (discharge instructions);

--paying hospital bills;

--reading about health education topics.

For River Falls Medical clinic patients, IQ Health makes it easy to:

--Ask a doctor and care team a question via secure email;

--Ask a specific question about a last visit;

--Request an appointment;

--Access clinical records including medications, allergies, immunizations, limited lab results, and surgeries and procedures.

To open MyChart and IQ Health accounts, go to allinahealth.org/mychart and follow the simple instructions to open a MyChart account, and go to www.rfmc.org, click on the “sign up for patient portal” to complete the IQ Health registration form.

While physicians and care providers have access to both healthcare systems, it is important to sign up for both systems because they are separate electronic medical record systems.
