River Falls man charged with slashing friend's throat in drunken argument
RIVER FALLS -- Hours of drinking ended violently for two friends Tuesday when one man used a kitchen knife to cut the other’s throat, authorities said.
Scott D. Kraemer, 50, of River Falls, was jailed and charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide by the St. Croix County district attorney. A judge ordered a cash bond of $100,000.
River Falls police were called after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to River Falls Area Hospital, where Brian S. Danielson, 48, of River Falls, was being treated for a 2-inch gash to the neck.
According to the criminal complaint, both men had been drinking heavily since midafternoon at Kraemer’s home, and they began arguing.
The complaint said Kraemer got upset, made threats, got a kitchen knife and cut Danielson’s neck.Danielson, reported to have had a blood-alcohol content of almost four times the legal limit for drunken driving, told authorities he punched Kraemer several times in the face, knocking him out before going to the hospital.Police officers later found Kraemer at his home. He had trouble standing, but police were unsure whether that was due to drinking, injuries or both.A police sergeant said Thursday that officers have recovered two knives from the scene.
