Rochester couple in 'good' condition following Sunday crash
A husband and wife from Rochester, Minn., were injured Sunday afternoon when their motorcycle left CTH OO just north of 370th Avenue in the town of Diamond Bluff and crashed in a ditch.
Steven Poncelet, 36 and Christina Poncelet, 35, were transported by separate medical helicopters to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester following the 2:05 p.m. crash.
Both were listed in good condition Monday morning, according to a spokeswoman for the Mayo Clinic.
Deputy Jean Spletstoser said in a news release that the northbound motorcycle, driven by Steven, went out of control upon entering a sharp curve in the road. Both riders were ejected. Neither was wearing a helmet.
One helicopter was landed near the scene and the second, landed at the Red Wing Airport where it met an ambulance.
Ellsworth firefighters assisted the Ellsworth Ambulance Service and Red Wing Fire Department ambulance on the crash.
Alcohol didn't appear to be a factor in the accident, Spletstoser said.
