Rough landing: deputies seek driver of crashed car
River Falls emergency personnel responded Monday to a "car-off-the-road" report around 9:15 a.m. The authorities arrived at 770th and 950th streets in the town of River Falls to find an older Ford Probe abandoned but with enough fresh blood stains to cause concern.
The car was registered to a 20-year-old Hudson woman whose purse was found inside. The evidence of injury, expired license tabs and the fact the woman is due in Pepin County Circuit Court next Monday on a charge of operating while intoxicated were enough to prompt Pierce County deputies to impound the car until questions can be answered.
A passerby reported he saw a woman leave the scene in another vehicle so deputies were checking with area hospitals.
A flatbed wrecker from Jerry's Towing, Inc., removed the car.
More details will be reported when they become available.
