Natasha E. Weigel, 18, of Baldwin died Saturday at Regions Hospital in St. Paul from complications she suffered after the accident near CTH N and Skyline Drive, just east of Hwy. 65, south of Roberts.

Weigel was in the back seat of a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Megan Ungar-Kerns, 17, of Spring Valley with Amy Rademaker, 15, of Woodville, another passenger. According to an accident report provided by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department, Kerns was traveling eastbound on CTH N, entered the south ditch and struck a group of trees. Weigel was airlifted to Regions Hospital from the scene. Her condition hadn't seen much change, as Regions representatives listed in her critical condition two days after the accident and on Oct. 30.

Rademaker was initially transported by ground ambulance to Hudson Medical Center and then airlifted to Regions, where she was pronounced dead that night. Kerns was transported by ground ambulance directly to Regions Hospital and, as of Monday morning, Regions representatives said she was in fair condition.

According to her obituary, Weigel was born Aug. 12, 1988, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Doug and Jayne Weigel. The family eventually settled in Albert Lea, Minn., where Natasha attended school until seventh grade, when she moved to Baldwin to be with her mom. She then moved back to Albert Lea as a junior in high school and completed her last two years of high school, graduating this past spring.

Her hobbies included hockey, as she was the goalie her senior year on the Girls' Varsity Hockey team, along with music, hunting, spending time outdoors and hanging out with her friends.

She is survived by her mother, Jayne, and husband, Ken Rimer of Baldwin; father, Doug, and wife, Christina Weigel of Albert Lea; siblings, Ken Rimer, James Rimer and Darian, Darik and Jaydon Weigel; grandparents, Audrey Sorenson, Mayelva and Ron Rimer, Robert and Linda Weigel, Linda McColloch and Tony Garza.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. this Friday at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church in Albert Lea, with visitation scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
