Six from Wisconsin killed in auto accident in Kentucky
ELIZABETHTOWN Ken. - Six people from the same Wisconsin family were killed when their SUV was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer truck on a Kentucky interstate Saturday morning.
The family, from Marion, was returning from a trip to Orlando, Florida. Two children in the burning SUV were saved when another motorist broke out the rear window and pulled them out. The clothes on one of those children were burning at the time. The accident happened on I-65 about 11 miles from Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Minutes after that crash, another one in the opposite direction injured three people, one of them critically.
The busy highway was shut down for almost five hours. Accident investigators were trying to determine if distracted driving was a factor in either or both crashes.
