Softball: Ellsworth clinches playoff opener

HAGER CITY – Ellsworth knew it had the capacity to beat Osceola in the opening round of the WIAA playoffs. Just a week before, the Panthers swept the Chieftains 19-2 and 10-5 in the regular season.

But with the season on the line and a trip to top-ranked Baldwin-Woodville looming, fourth-seeded Ellsworth wasn’t going to get ahead of itself.
