Solomon opens up the Boxcar
PRESCOTT -- Johnny Solomon was searching for a new place to live and settled on San Diego, Calif.
With a fully packed car, Solomon was on his quest.
A glitch developed: after 15-20 minutes, Solomon realized being in a car for that long would drive him nuts, so plan B came about.
Solomon came upon Prescott and found the city to his liking, as he found a home and was able to teach guitar lessons.
He also helped out part-time at Strawberry Fields, an eatery that specialized in deli items.
When that business closed, Solomon grew intrigued with the location, as cooking besides music was another of his big passions.
One thing led to another and, earlier this month, he opened up the Boxcar, located at 106 Broad St.
"Since I've been here, the people have been so welcoming," he said.
Solomon was raised in Kansas City, Mo., where his interest in cooking grew.
"Cooking with my dad Sundays after church was one of the first things I did," he said.
