Somerset eliminated Ellsworth from contention with a 57-45 win Friday at Ellsworth while Prescott stayed tied with Somerset for first place with a 65-28 whomping of Durand at Durand.

The Spartans, 12-1 in the MBC led the Panthers, 9-4 in the league, almost the whole way and by as may as 14 points in the second half at 47-33. EHS did cut that lead with a furious rally in the fourth quarter which shrunk the margin to four points at 49-45 with 4:18 to go in the fourth quarter. But Ellsworth could not come closer and Somerset pushed the margin back over 10 points in the final four minutes of the game.

Somerset's Gaelin Elmore had a game-high 24 points, one of three Somerset players in double figures. Chrystian Kulow had 13 points to lead Ellsworth.

Next Tuesday is the second-to- final evening on the league schedule and will have Prescott hosting New Richmond, Ellsworth at Osceola and  Amery at Somerset.
