Somerset wins, on to the state finals
CHIPPEWA FALLS - Somerset High School's football team clinches a bid in the WIAA State Finals after beating Bloomer 18-13 Friday evening in a Level 4 contest at Dorais Field.
Somerset running back Haydon Dvorak ran for 101 yards on seven carries including a 31-yard touchdown. The Spartans' Robert Flom recovered a fumble and returned it 57 yards for a touchdown which put Somerset ahead 12-6 at halftime. And Somerset quarterback Tyler Ledbeter score on a one-yard TD run in the fourth quarter which put the Spartans ahead for good.
Somerset running back Vernon Berault rushed for 75 yards on 19 carries. The Spartans will play in the Division 4 finals next Thursday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. They will play either Wrightstown or Brodhead/Juda who are playing today in Ripon.
