Speaker challenges ‘Common Core’ education
Dr. Duke Pesta, professor of English at UW-Oshkosh, will discuss the “Common Core State Standards Initiatives” program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course in River Falls.
Pesta will go over the ongoing struggle to roll back Common Core implementation and will give examples of how he believes it threatens to undermine, weaken and centralize public and private education.
Pesta has a master's and a doctorate in literature. He has taught at major research institutions and small liberal arts colleges and has been active in educational reform, developing and implementing an elective Bible course for public school students in Texas. He is the academic director of FreedomProject Education, an online courses for kindergarten through high school students.
There is no charge to attend this presentation sponsored by Wisconsin Constitutional Prayer and Action Group.
