Spring Valley boys, Prescott girls win in hoops action Thursday

Spring Valley High School boys' basketball team reached the 10 win mark for the season after 59-31 thrashing of Boyceville at Boyceville Thursday evening.

The win improves SV's record to 10-3 overall, 7-3 in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference. Valley exploded to a 15-3 advantage after the first quarter and led 32-12 at halftime. Zac Webster led SV in scoring with 18 points.

Keeping pace with Spring Valley in the league standings is Colfax. The Vikings defeated Elmwood last evening as well 57-33 to have 7-3 mark in the D-SC as well. Elmwood only trailed by 13 before entering the fourth quarter but Colfax outscored them 19-8, EHS is 1-14 overall and were led in scoring by Nick Bechel and Levi Wolf, each with 12 points.

Plum City not only had its winning streak snap it was done so in its home gym in resounding fashion by Glenwood City. The Hilltoppers won 81-57 led by 22-point efforts from Richard Ross and Todd Peterson. Nash Gilles led PC in scoring with 13 points as the Blue Devils drop to 6-7 overall, and 6-5 in the league.

Also in league play, No. 4 ranked Elk Mound established dominance over D-SC with a 55-35 win at Elk Mound.

In girls basketball, Prescott downed Osceola 46-25 at Osceola. Elly Boles led PHS in scoring with nine points and three other players: Katy Syverson, Mariah Krings and Olivia Rohl each scored eight points. The Cardinals are 5-8 overall and 3-6 in the Middle Border Conference.
