Spring Valley, Plum City play in regional finals tonight
Spring Valley and Plum City's prep boys basketball teams will play in WIAA regional tournament finals this evening after winning their respective semifinal games Friday.
Spring Valley defeated Webster 68-42 in Division 4 at Spring Valley and Plum City downed Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran at home 41-31 in Division 5.
Four players were in double figures for the Cardinals as they outscored the Tigers, 16-8 overall, 46-27 in the second half. Kyler Gotzman scored 19 points and Dylan Webster had 18 as the Cards have now won seven straight ballgames.
Plum City led 28-26 heading into the fourth quarter when they outscored the Lancers 13-5. PC was led in scoring by Chase Luebker's 19 points and Alex Gilles' 10 points. The Devils made six three pointers led by Luebker's three. ECIL, 16-6 overall, had just one player in double figures.
Spring Valley, 17-6 overall, takes on Grantsburg, 18-5 overall, in Amery with the tip-off at 7 p.m. Plum City, 14-8 overall, plays Chippewa Falls McDonell, 12-12 overall, in Mondovi with the tip-off also at 7 p.m.
Prescott lost its Division 3 regional semifinal contest to Baldwin-Woodville 57-26 Friday at Prescott. The Cards lost despite haven beaten the Blackhawks, 16-8 overall, twice during the regular season. Billy Brookshaw scored 13 points to lead PHS. Ryan Benoy scored 19 points to lead B-W, which will play Altoona in the regional finals this evening. Altoona defeated Durand 72-45.
