The Cardinals led at halftime 14-6 and shutout the Raiders in the second half while scoring 14 points. Cardinal quarterback John Newton led the way as he scored on a one-yard run and threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Ted Anderson.

Kyle Bosshart led Valley on the ground with 135 yards rushing on 25 carries. He also scored a two-yard touchdown run while fellow back Steve Von Haden had a three-yard TD run to put the Redbirds up 14-0 in the first half. SV also converted on three fourth down plays.

Elmwood scored just before halftime on a one-yard run by quarterback Brian Tolonen. But after amassing 330 yards of total offense last week vs. Whitehall, the Raiders were held to just 205 yards of offense. And Spring Valley's defense forced three Elmwood turnovers, two coming in the second half.

Jesse McKune led Elmwood in rushing with 82 yards on 23 carries. Logan Wolf had a game-high 12 tackles for Elmwood while Jake Rudesill had six tackles, two of them for loss for the Cardinals.

Both team are now 1-1 as they begin league play next week. Elmwood is at Lake Holcombe while Spring Valley is at Boyceville.
