MADISON - Five new champions will be crowned at the WIAA state high school football finals that begin today in Madison.

Only two of last year's seven titlists are back - Waunakee in Division-Two, and West De Pere in Division-Three. And they'll both play tomorrow. The four smallest divisions will have their championship games today at Camp Randall Stadium.

The Division-Seven contest kick-off at 10 a.m. and right now Greenwood-/Granton leads Seneca 16-0 in the second quarter after Josh Harlander's 51-yard touchdown run Hayden Hiniker's 48-yard TD scamper.

Greenwood-Granton is 12-1, while Seneca which is 11-2. If Seneca wins they will be one of the smallest schools, enrollment 90, to win a state football championship. Greenwood/Granton defeated Elmwood in their Level 1 contest.

Undefeated Fond du Lac St. Mary's Springs will go against Shiocton in the Division-Six title game at one this afternoon. Springs is making its third straight appearance at Camp Randall, after losing to Edgar a year ago. Shiocton, at 12-1, made the state finals for the first time since 1983.

Two unbeaten teams will go for the Division-Five crown at four this afternoon. Colby and Lancaster are both 13-0. Colby was the runner-up a year ago. Lancaster is the third-highest scoring team in the state, averaging over 48 points a game.

Tonight, unbeaten Wrightstown will play Somerset for the Division-Four championship. Somerset has one loss. The Spartans are playing in their first state championship game since 2005.
