SV, EPC get qualifiers and champions through D-3 regionals
BOYCEVILLE - Spring Valley and Elmwood/Plum City's track and field teams had qualifiers and champions from Tuesday's WIAA Division 3 Boyceville Regional.
Top four athletes in each event and top four teams in the relays qualify for the sectional meet which is Friday in Colfax.
Winning regional titles for Spring Valley were Zac Webster as he took first in the triple jump at 43-10 and the high jump as well with a leap of 6-2. However, Webster’s winning streak in the long jump was snapped as he finished second to Eleva-Strum’s Gabe Toft, whose leap of 21-3 beat out Webster’s 20-10. Tyler O’Keefe took first in the 400-meter dash in :53.25 seconds.
Winning regional titles for Elmwood/Plum City was Sarah Gilles as she was first in the 100-meter high hurdles in :17.19 along with the 300-meter low hurdles in :49.10. She also finished second in the triple jump as was a part of EPC’s winning 1600-meter relay team along with Kaitlyn Lee, Josie Tiffany and Libby Feuker. Their winning time was 4:24.64.
The SV boys’ team placed third in a closely contested boys’ meet. Team scores were Eau Claire Regis 113, Glenwood City 106.50, Spring Valley 92, Chippewa Falls McDonell 82, Boyceville 74.50, Colfax 72, Eleva-Strum 65.50, Elmwood/Plum City 55.50, Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran 27 and Augusta 11 points.
Also qualifying for sectionals from the Valley boys team were Aiden Manley, fourth in the 3200-meter run, Devin Larson, fourth in the 400; Lucas Olson, third in the high jump and the Cardinals’ 1600-meter relay team which finished in second.
Qualifying for sectionals from EPC’s boys’ team were Levi Wolf as he finished third in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump along with Andrew Gilles as he placed fourth in both the 800 and 1600-meter runs. EPC’s 800, 1600 and 3200-meter relay teams all qualified as well. The 800 team was fourth while the other two distance relay teams both finish in third place.
Joining Gilles from the EPC girls’ team at the sectional meet will be Jillian Holt as she finished second in the pole vault. EPC also qualified both its 400 and 3200-meter relay teams as they both finished in third place.
Spring Valley’s sectional contingent from the girls’ team will consist of Andrea Stockwell as she finished fourth in the 200-meter dash and the Cardinals’ 3200-meter relay team which placed fourth.
Eau Claire Regis dominated the girls’ meet, winning the regional title with 219 points. The Ramblers were followed in the standings by Colfax with 109 points, Glenwood City 71, EPC with 65, Immanuel 59, Boyceville 50.50, McDonell 37, Spring Valley 36, Augusta 31 and Eleva-Strum 20.
