Teenager arrested on burglary cases in Prescott
A 17-year-old Prescott teenager was arrested last night (Tuesday) in connection with two burglaries and an attempted burglary.
Zachary James Marek is currently being held at the Pierce County Jail. Police Chief Mike R. Bondarenko said formal charges are pending with the Pierce County District Attorney's Office.
"Mr. Marek has admitted he burglarized the Prescott City Hall, 800 Borner Street, on June 29 and the Sylvan Learning Center in the First National Bank building, 1154 North Canton Street, on July 5," Bondarenko said. "He has also admitted to an attempted burglary at WestConsin Credit Union, 1400 North Acres Road, on July 5."
Bondarenko said police recovered a laptop computer taken in the City Hall burglary and are in the process of making additional property recoveries.
Nothing was taken in the Sylvan Learning Center burglary. However, $500 damage was done during the entry into the building.
No entry was gained at the Credit Union. There was no damage.
"This arrest came about as a result of an intensive investigation over the last two weeks that involved almost every officer on the department at some point," Bondarenko concluded. "I am very pleased to report these felony cases have been solved."
