Time is running out for rookies to make the Packers
The Green Bay Packers have six more practices and one more exhibition game before general manager Ted Thompson makes his first roster cuts next week. That means time is running out for the Packers’ undrafted rookie free agents to make an impression. Receivers Justin Wilson and Omarius Hines are among those still fighting for roster spots after almost a month of Training Camp. Safety Chris Banjo has received some high praise from his coaches, especially after he intercepted a Vince Young pass at practice last week. He said the Packers kept a promise by giving him a lot of snaps. Banjo said he kept trying to figure out his standing a year ago during Jacksonville’s training camp. This year, he says he’s only focusing on doing the best he can, and try not to read too much into things. The Packers are now 1-and-1 during the pre-season, after beating Saint Louis on Saturday night. They’ll host Seattle on Friday evening. N-F-L rosters must be cut from 90 players to 75 a week from tomorrow. On August 31st, the 53-man Opening Day rosters must be set.
